Berners Schober was charged with updating the union’s west façade, creating ADA accessibility at its main entrance, and providing additional program space for student organizations. Student input sessions called for a space that was “modern, open, natural, and cozy.” To respond, Berners Schober tore down walls and ceilings, opened staircases, and flooded the space with natural light.
Premium walnut wood accents and contemporary surfaces evoke modern, urban offices. Multiple work areas and meeting spaces can be private or
collaborative. A "creation station" with a stain-resistant stainless-steel top has been spotted doing double duty as a white board. Same goes for the glass partition walls in the collaboration rooms.
