A renovation of St. John’s Hospital’s 5th floor was completed in 2020 to accommodate 33 private cardiovascular patient rooms. The rooms are part of the Prairie Heart Institute, which is located within St. John’s. The design improved the staff’s ability to care for patients and provided more comfort for patients with the conversion to private rooms.

A continuation of an earlier renovation of floors six through nine at St. John’s patient tower, the updated patient rooms and work stations focus on patient safety and experience.
Room amenities were improved to better accommodate families and serve patients. All previous semi-private rooms were converted into single patient rooms, and the toilet/shower rooms were moved inboard for more privacy.
Nurse work spaces are arranged to minimize staff inefficiencies, allowing them to spend more time with their patients. The new space allows everyone to feel better, work smarter, and rest.
