Project Highlights

36 student welding booths

Enhanced electrical infrastructure

Advanced air quality systems

Designed to mirror today’s industrial workplaces, the facility provides students with hands-on experience using the equipment, technology, and systems they will encounter in the field.

The upgraded facility features a new welding lab with 36 student welding booths, instructor training stations, expanded grinding and fabrication areas, and upgraded welding equipment designed to reflect real-world industry applications. Significant infrastructure improvements were also completed throughout the facility, including enhanced ventilation and air quality systems, bulk gas distribution, upgraded electrical service, building automation controls, and energy-efficient LED lighting. These improvements created a safer, more efficient learning environment while supporting the demanding operational requirements of modern welding instruction.

To further enhance its educational value, select building systems were intentionally left visible, giving students across multiple skilled trades programs the opportunity to observe professionally installed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as real-world examples of quality craftsmanship.
A key component of the project was the integration of advanced mechanical and environmental systems that improve air quality, ventilation performance, and overall facility functionality. New make-up air units, exhaust systems, air quality monitoring technology, and upgraded utility infrastructure allow the program to safely accommodate intensive welding operations while enhancing comfort for students and instructors alike.

By modernizing its welding program facilities, LLCC expanded its ability to train the next generation of welders and skilled trades professionals while creating a lasting investment in workforce development for the region. The completed project strengthens the college’s role as a leader in technical education and provides students with the resources needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving industry.
