Program & Schematic Design developed in association with Gro Development

The renovation of this nationally-registered historic building received multiple awards for outstanding historic preservation and contribution to the community.

The six-story Tudor Revival building underwent a $13 million renovation to modernize, ensure the future strength and accessibility of Y programs, and position the building for future lease of its upper floors. Interior updates create a more transparent floorplan, with updated locker rooms, expanded program space, and greater natural light. Open sightlines transform the user experience and improve wayfinding.

A three-story atrium exposes the interior to natural light. On the east, a glass curtain wall provides views of the city while engaging passersby and sparking renewed interest in the Y.

Funding for the project came from a community capital campaign and state historic tax credits. The Y remained open throughout renovations.

The Greater Green Bay YMCA is an example of an enduring Architect/Client relationship with which we are proud to be a part. The previous generation of Foeller, Schober and Stephenson designed the original downtown Green Bay YMCA in 1924. Our firm has been involved in the continued maintenance, expansion, and renovation of this facility ever since.

Other projects for this client include the West Side YMCA, East Side YMCA, as well as, several upgrades and expansions to their Broadview facility in nearby Allouez.
