Berners Schober carried out a full remodel of the Cancer Care Clinic, located within Sacred Heart Hospital, in partnership with Prevea Health. The reimagined space provides rest and waiting areas, an outdoor healing garden, and centralized nurse stations to provide prompt care to the treatment rooms lining the exterior walls.

Nourishment counter and lounge with fireplace

Outdoor healing garden

Organized to allow for more privacy and to create an overall relaxed environment, the Cancer Care Clinic remodel sought to make patients feel a little more at ease when they go in for treatments.

The design added many amenities to the reception and waiting area. A large nourishment counter sits across from an expanded lounge area with a fireplace and the reception desk is further removed from the waiting area for increased privacy. The calming space provides room to breathe both before and after treatment.

An outdoor healing garden, located off the lounge, gives patients and those with them a chance for fresh air and

reprieve from a clinic setting. The overall space is bright and natural to differentiate from a typical hospital setting.

The core of the space houses open nurse stations that provide clear lines of sight to all treatment areas in the clinic, which are located along the exterior walls for maximum daylighting and outdoor views. The treatment areas provide two private infusion rooms and nine open infusion bays.
