Project Summary

WOMEN AND INFANTS CENTER

St. Vincent Hospital is mid-way through a four-phase project to update and expand its Women and Infants Center. The first two phases include the creation and addition of the popular family model LDRP suites, which provide ample space for families to bond and staff to provide the care for new mothers and infants. A translucent door within the suite provides privacy for the mother, while allowing the family to stay close by. A baby exam area is close to the mother’s bed, allowing her to rest yet be present for the exam. Medical gases are hidden behind panels on the headwall to provide a more “home like” feel. The suite’s toilet room features a rainfall shower head, hidden storage areas for personal items and translucent decorative panels to create a spa-like environment. One of the LDRP suites provides a labor tub with integrated chroma therapy to assist with pain management.

The renovation established a new central nursing hub to welcome expectant mothers, families and visitors. The nursing station includes controlled access to the well-baby nursery along with a private lactation room for staff and patients. Close to the LDRP suites and the nurse station is a family lounge to provide refreshments and respite for family members.

The Women and Infants Center at St. Vincent Hospital was designed to be appealing and adaptive to the next generation of mothers.
