Basketball & Hockey Office Remodel
The University of Wisconsin Athletics Department wanted to update the offices and recruiting space for the basketball program, in keeping with recent updates to other varsity sport spaces. Existing offices needed to expand to provide additional support space, and include a meeting room better suited to recruiting efforts.
Both Men’s Basketball Hockey are co-located on a concourse within the bowl of Camp Randall Stadium. Updating of the shared entrance lobby enabled both sports’ programs to incorporate new glass entry doors to their respective suites, showcasing each team’s successful history.
Reconfiguring the existing basketball office core provided open office space for support staff. A key feature of the basketball suite was the separate Lobby/Waiting room known as the “Wow” room; a circular space featuring trophies, images, and a display of Badger players in the NBA. A reception area off the far side of the circle connects to an inner corridor of offices for assistants and other support staff.
The head coach’s office, including a new private toilet room and closet, was located at the far end of the suite. A glass door and sidelight in the coach’s office allows daylight and views of the surrounding campus to penetrate in to the adjacent conference room. Along with the Wow Room, the conference room plays a prominent role in recruitment meetings with prospective players and their families. New finishes throughout the suite unified the space while providing visual continuity with the University’s other varsity sports programs.
